The Condado community, one of the most popular, located in the Santurce neighborhood of the capital city of San Juan, remains a favorite destination for both locals and tourists.
Since its urbanization process began in 1908, Condado experienced significant economic growth thanks to wealthy American families, including the Vanderbilts, descendants of railroad magnate Cornelious Vanderbilt, who built their homes in the community.
Another boom in the 1940s and 1950s as a result of the rapid industrialization of Puerto Rico boosted the area, and as a result important hotels such as La Concha resort and Hotel Caribe Hilton, the latter located in the Puerta De Tierra community, were built.
